This is the writing journal of
zehavit_lamasu. It contains, for the most, my novel THE TEMPLE TREE, now 20 years in the writing and 3 times resurected. This is the first time I am happy with it so there is a minor chance I will finish it one day... but that isn't my point of writing it. The point is that there is no point, I write because if I don't I think I will explode somehow.
I have no intention of ever publishing this work. I might one day but I don't want a desire for fame and fortune to stand in the way of my creativity, beside the fact that I have enough money and enough recognition from people who are important to me (friends and family). I am VERY dissilusioned with main stream publishers, I abhor the need to have your work compromise by both an agent and an editor and hold this responsible for the stream of utter mediocre, non-daring and rather dull drivle that comes out into bookshops. I believe not only that publishers take no risk but that too many authors with potential teach themselves to lower their creativity to comply with these conformist demands. I scorn this. These days most of what I read is SMALL PRESS either print-to-order or self published, which might be less refined but shines with individuality and creativity. Should my books ever see print they would be either small press, print to order or self published possibly even in the form of e-books. Just to make clear where my opinion about comercial publishing (and also writing classes I'm afraid XD) is: I don't care if I never make money out of my writing but I would rather wilt and die before seeing myself join the ranks of the compromised! my art is MINE!
Saying that - I have no intention of letting anyone steal any part of my work. I am very aware that the UK have no proper copyright laws but you would be advised that the rights to anything within this FRIEND ONLY journal is held by Zehavit Lamasu. It might also be of interest to you that I am not a poor student but a mature woman who HAS A LAWYER who is aware of her writing and is an utter bastard as good lawyers often are. At his advice every chapter is printed and sealed in an envelope and sent to me with a post office date stamp on it where it is kept sealed and can be used as evidence in court should the need arise.
YES - my ego is big enough to believe my work is THAT GOOD. I wouldn't be writing if I didn't think so.
Friending policy is very strict and is BY INVITATION ONLY. Currently I am only allowing people who I know in REAL LIFE as friends to have access to my writing. Don't take it personally - we might have a splendid online friendship but it is just not enough. Sorry.
Therefore if I allow you to read my writing I expect you to keep it to yourself and NOT show it to anyone else, unless granted permission by me.
For those of you who get to view the contents within. Feedback is apreciated yet not necessary. I am NOT intereseted in any feedback about my ideas or my particular style of writing (which I know is unusual - I'd like to keep it that way). Although I would love any internal contradictions pointed out and questions asked if something is unclear. This will allow me to constructively fix my writing. Also, although on my main journal spelling and grammar Nazzism is frowned upon - here it is more than accepted. English is not my first language and I even in my mother's tongue both my spelling and my grammar are apalling... feel free and WELCOME to point those out. (you can start with this intro XD).
Feedback I specifically abhore is any accusation of MARRY SUE! GROW UP people. Every character in my book is an extension to myself they will ALL remind you of me, even the minor villains. This is the way I identify with them and get to love each and every one. Also, because some of my writing is essentially homoeroitca EVERYONE IS GOING TO BE DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!!! There are some instances of blatant marry sue I dropped in for a joke and only one beta reader ever spotted them... the rest was absolute clear jealousy fueled nonsense critique (someone actually acuse the ugliest character in The Temple Tree of being a Marry Sue once...¬_¬). Since I believe that a character is often not convincing if it is not liked by the author I snigger at the overly common finger pointing at the so called Marry Sue phenomenon. Don't bore me or annoy me by doing it :P
Should any of my less serious work pop out in here (My space opera: DON'T CALL ME ISHMAEL or my decadent steam punk regency romance short stories featuring Lord Solomon Fountain, Narciss Zohar the opium den dancer and Rebel Rabbi Abranam Rotenstein) you would be advised that they ar HOMOEROTIC in contents... or in other words, PLOTESS GAY SMUT!!! If you have a problem with that ... errr... Fuck off and never talk to me again unless you want me to harvest your spleen with a spoon... thankyou ^_^
THE TEMPLE TREE is very narative heavy but it does contain erotic scene some of which are between SAME SEX COUPLES both male and female. So be advised for open mindedness in this case also.
It is a very complicated story, with 5 main characters and a plethora of side ones who are all important. The novel is what I call ATHEIST OCCULT MYSTERY. I took inspiration from various occult movements, some which I belonged too, some which I vaguely heard about and some which I invented. I mixed them and reshaped them to fit my tale. It is a tale that has great potential for blasphamy and I would recomend you to avoid trying studying spiritually from it. I don't believe in God but find the concept intriguing my attitude will naturally infiltrate my tale.
Other than that - read to enjoy!
